SAD About The Time Change?

sad lights

Every fall when the time changes it gets darker earlier.  I can vividly picture the first day after the time change in my head of this time change.  I remember leaving work, looking out to a dark sky.  Then, as I drive home, there seems to be an excess of cars on the road.  Why are there more cars on the road when I left work at the same time?  I am immediately frustrated.  For the next hour I drive home in what one would only describe as road rage.  However, many people in the medical might consider my actions to be a result of a disorder known as Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Typically, when I left work I was used to seeing sunlight.  This light put me in a good mood.  The lack of light is quite possibly responsible for altering my mood.  In fact, many people during the winter months suffer from SAD.  They suffer due to lack of sunlight exposure and do not know how to cope.  Often, they will experience depression, irritability, anxiety, and other symptoms.
If you are SAD about the time change, you might want to consider options that will help you to cope instead of taking out your rage on the road.  Talk with your doctor about it.  Many people suffer from this condition.  You are not the only one.  It is a very common problem and it can be easily treated.

The Beach Equals Happiness

sad lights

One of the top destination venues for many families every year is the beach.  Why is this?  The water is salty and the waves can be challenging.  Yet for many a day at the beach can be the greatest day.  A day at the beach equals relaxation.  Going to the beach means that you are taking a break from your troubles and responsibilities.  Basically, the beach is happiness.
The beach offers one of the best health benefits that many individuals often overlook, take for granted, and even consider a health risk – the sun.  The sun is a great source of vitamin D.  Vitamin D can help individuals maintain energy, stay healthy, and be happy.  Too often at the beach we consider the sun a threat to our health.  However, sunlight is good for us.  And, a lack of it can actually cause a disorder known as Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Seasonal Affective Disorder affects many individuals who suffer from lack of sunlight.  These individuals may not have the luxury of getting to the beach, or they may just be missing out on the beach during the winter months.  Whatever the reason, it is important to make sure to get enough sunlight or use a SAD therapy lamp during the winter months to avoid depression.

Is SAD A Myth?

sad lights

There are people today who like to question modern medicine.  Maybe they are simply skeptics.  However, they ask questions relating to medical policies, treatments, and conditions.  One question that a lot of these skeptics ask today is whether or not Seasonal Affective Disorder really exists.  They seem to believe that this condition is a made up belief that medical professionals have engineered to explain the reason people are more unhappy in the winter.
The truth is SAD is not a myth.  Many people are treated for SAD every year.  And, yes, like the skeptics say, during the winter months their mood changes.  However, doctors notice a pattern in their mood that indicates they are suffering from SAD.  This pattern happens every winter most likely.  And, the depression they experience is directly tied to a lack in sunlight.
In addition, the depression in these patients is often helped immensely by the use of a SAD therapy lamp.  This lamp, which mimics the sun, seems to help treat the symptoms the patient experiences due to SAD.  Obviously, the disorder is not a myth.  It is a real problem that many people suffer from.  You could be one of them.  It may be wise to talk to a health professional if you feel like you are suffering with various SAD symptoms.

Want To Move To London? It May Affect Your Health.

sad lights

Many people dream about moving to London.  The city is one of the top cities in the world.  It is a top travel destination for many reasons.  Because of this, many people consider moving to the famous city.  Some people actually move to London.  When they do, some people love living in the famous city.  However, others struggle with the change.  Maybe they experience culture shock.  Changing environments is often difficult for many people.  Or maybe something else is causing their distress. Interestingly, new studies indicate that there may be a link between the weather in London and depression.
Many people who move to London move from an area where the climate is more favorable.  They are used to living in an area where they see the sun more often.  Then they come to London and it rains often and the clouds are prevalent.  Not only is the weather particularly unpleasant, but they are also in an area that is unfamiliar.
The depression these people experience because of the weather in the London might relate to a medical condition known as Seasonal Affective Disorder.  This disorder is commonly referred to as winter depression and many people experience it during the winter months when they do not see the sun.
