Does Light Therapy Really Work?

sad lights

It is normal to be skeptical about the alternative forms of medicine and treatment that are available today.  After all, we live in a society that has grown accustomed to our traditional forms of medicine and to using pills to solve problems.  While drugs do still work for many situations, there are other instances where another form of treatment may prove more effective.

Mental Illnesses

One of the most common and most difficult types of illness to treat today is a mental illness.  Those that suffer from mental illnesses often have a difficult time preventing the onset of the disease.  Then, once they have the problem, fighting it becomes an even larger battle.  One condition that is hard to treat is Seasonal Affective Disorder.  Not only is it a less frequently occurring form of depression, but the cycle of its symptoms means that it can take years for patients to realize they have the disease.

Light Therapy

Once a patient realizes they have SAD, the best thing is to treat it as fast as possible.  Today experts are learning that the most effective way to treat the disease is with light therapy.  Fortunately patients can take advantage of light boxes and treat the condition on their own.
