How Long Does SAD Last?
Have you ever felt really sad and wanted to feel better but you did not know how? This is a common feeling of many individuals who suffer from depression. Often they feel like they are in a hole and they do not know how to pull themselves out. It is not that they do not want to be happy, more so that they do not understand or know how to be happy.
When individuals are suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder, they experiencing similar thoughts, however, they are not permanent. SAD is a condition that only remains during the winter months. However, many people tend to wonder what the “winter months” mean.
Obviously, the length of time may vary depending on the severity in each patient. However, SAD could begin as early as September and last as long as April. The length may also vary depending on the location of the individual. If the person is living in a climate where winter begins later in the year, than SAD may not begin until October or November. However, there are many areas where the sun will disappear for months and this 8 month time period is a great indication of the extent of time an individual should expect to experience SAD symptoms.
