Dose
Although you do not have a prescription, you do have a dose for light therapy. The starting dose using a fluorescent light box is 10,000 lux for 30 minutes per day. However, if your light box only emits 2,500 lux, you can sit in front of it for 2 hours per day.
Time Of Day
Perform light therapy in the early morning – typically when you wake up. If you do this, you will maximize the treatment response.
Other Information
If you follow the above instructions, you should notice a difference in your behavior within a week. However, for some people it could take up to 4 weeks. It depends on the person. Also, keep in mind there are common side effects including, headache, eyestrain, nausea, and agitation. Usually these side effects are mild. If they are strong, try decreasing the dosage.
