The Right Light

During the winter it is common for several geographic areas to experience a decrease in sunlight. Due to the way the sun rotates and how far you live from the equator, at certain points during the year you will experience times without sunlight. While a day or two without sun might be fine, going several days without sun could be detrimental to your health and it could lead to a serious medical condition known as Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Light In The Absence Of Sun
It makes sense that if you do not have proper light in your life because the sun is not shining, then you should add light artificially. Therefore it seems quite common to try and turn on lots of lights to avoid darkness and serious medical conditions like SAD. However it is important that individuals add the right type of light into their lives during these winter months.
What Light?
What light is right? The natural light from the sun helps stimulate serotonin production in your brain – a hormone that helps regulate your mood. A small lamp is not going to generate the same amount of light as the sun. However there are specific lights that are constructed specifically to mimic sunlight exposure. They are approximately 10 times stronger than normal lights. Try adding these lights back to your life during the winter to help enhance your mood.
