Since light therapy has become a common medical treatment today, especially when treating Seasonal Affective Disorder, it may be helpful for individuals to understand the basics of light.  For years, scientists around the world have spent their careers studying light and its properties.  Because of the time they have spent and the information they have gathered, we now how facts to go off of, helping us better understand light in general.

First, when our eyes see light, they work with our brain in the process of perception.  Our brain can take the light from a movie from a movie and translate it into pictures.  This is why sunlight can affect our brain and our mood.

Another interesting fact about light is it acts like particles.  These particles move from the source.  This is how a shadow works.

In addition, light also acts like waves.  This is how rainbows occur.  When a rainbow occurs, this is one of the most beautiful and confusing principles of physics according to scientists.
