How Often Do You Feel SAD?

When it comes to depression it is important to keep track of the frequency with which it occurs.  For example, if you feel depressed for a few hours each month then you are probably not a candidate for depression.  However, if you have noticed that your behavior has changed and you are feeling down more frequently, than this could be an indication that you are at risk for depression. Those individuals that might be at risk for conditions like Seasonal Affective Disorder should pay particularly close attention to their symptoms.

SAD

Since SAD is a seasonal type of depression, those that suffer from it will notice a change in their behavior.  Most likely their mood will change as the season changes.  If a person is down occasionally during the winter, than he or she may just have a case of the winter blues.  However, if they are suffering from consistent depression and various symptoms, then they most likely could have SAD.  It will be important for them to evaluate their symptoms, especially how often they occur, and discuss them with their doctor.

Treating SAD

Fortunately, if you feel SAD, treatment options are available.  It is not impossible to find treatment for this condition.  In fact, taking advantage of options like light therapy may prove very effective in your battle against SAD.
